JMAC was established in 1942 for the purpose of promoting business efficiency in Japanese industry. It was set up as the main business of the Japan Management Association and has marked the following milestones in its history to date.
1980
- Split off the Consulting Business Headquarters, which was the central department since the company's foundation, to became independent as the Japan Management Association (current JMA Consultants Inc.)
- Reorganized previous PID Plan, and implemented next-generation distribution innovation consulting.
1981
- Introduced BCIP (Business Conference Innovation Program) for improving conference efficiency.
- Developed and introduced the NBP (New Business Planning Program) that uses a technical matrix to search for new product and business areas.
1981
- Introduced the Mass Transit Business Reconstruction and Development Plan Program.
1982
- Introduced the MOP (Managing Office Productivity) Program.
- Developed and introduced the Strategic Accounting System.
- Formed cooperation with PA France, and began full-scale consulting business in Europe.
1983
- Systemized and introduced the outline and techniques of FA (Factory Automation).
- Established SPECS Simple Assessment System.
- Established the Science and Technology Research Institute to support consulting needs in the high technology field.
- Began full-scale consulting business in various other Asian countries.
1984
- Established the "Hospital Management Research Office" to strengthen hospital management innovation support.
- Established "SPECS Research Institute" to enhance SPECS Assessment Services.
- Established JMAC Europe S.A. in Paris (current JMA Consultants International Paris S.A.) to set up a system to allow the positive development of consulting business in Europe.
1985
- Started research into 21st century style innovative companies (JMAC-21) as a company-wide project.
- Started production technology training courses (Abbreviated name: P. Current Training Course for IE Assistants, Chinese version) in Dalian City, China
1986
- Held two JMAC-21 announcement meetings, one for top management in July, and one for middle management in September
- Began full-scale consulting business in Korea. Held "Management Technology Innovation Seminar" in Seoul.
- Established CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction) Research Office, and began full-scale research system.
1987
- Introduced the latest work measurement technique known as MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique) from HB Maynard and Company, Inc. of the U.S. and began popularization activities in Japan. In combination, established a MOST Training Class (MMI Class) in the Head Office.
- Developed OPECS (Organization/Office Performance Evaluation Clinic System) based on questionnaires, and introduced it to consulting business activities.
1988
- Established JMAC Considi S.p.A. in Italy (current JMAC CONSEIL S.p.A.) to enhance consulting business in Europe.
- JMAC-developed SPECS management strength enhancing program becomes widely accepted in the industry, and projects become larger and longer. As a result, JMAC was awarded the 6th "Management Technology Development Prize".
- Assessment program introduced for "Technical Division Organizational Climate Activation and Productivity Improvement" (KI Assessment) in KIS research.
- The overseas ICC (Internal Consultant College) became popular, and many requests were received from several regions regarding opening colleges.
1989
- Inaugurated CIM Division to lead in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), and developed full-scale CIM consulting business.
- Following from the holding of the ICC overseas, organized a Factory Administration Seminar that toured three countries, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia, receiving high evaluation in each area.
- Decided to hold "JMAC Management Innovation Forum" each year as part of the technical information transmission activities for JMAC clients, and held the first forum.
1990
- Held the 1st JMAC-21 (21st Century Top Executive Symposium) "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World", attended by 302 top managers from 208 companies.
- From research into CS Management (Customer Satisfaction Management), established CSM consulting know-how.
1990
- Conducted joint research into SIS (Strategic Information System) among the three JMA companies (JMAC, JMAS, and JMAR), and developed a SIS system that is differentiated from those of other companies.
- Introduced "High Marketing Simple Assessment Program" in the JMAC-21 High Marketing Working Group.
- Published JMAC institutional magazine "Innovation and Management" (Abbreviated to I & M).
- Expanded JMAC-21 Top Executive Symposium following each key item of innovation, holding it 8 times.
1991
- Held the 2nd JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - The Innovations of Xerox in Customer Satisfaction", attended by 250 top managers from many companies
- Established Technical Division with the purpose of improving JMAC's technical development strengths, and worked to develop KI, logistics and time management technologies.
- In combination, reorganized the Management Research Institute to build the foundations for the consulting business, and established business planning division, assessment center and IIC.
- Held press conference for "CS Management". Created CS boom in Japanese industry.
1992
- Held the 3rd JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Spin-off Strategy Observed in Johnson & Johnson".
- Technical development theme for 1992 took up SIS and Cognition (Current JAIS), conducted by the Technical Division.
- Design and size of MCB (Management Administration Technical Documentation) was revised for the first time in 10 years, and full-scale distribution to clients was begun.
- Set up a branch office in California to roll out the consulting business full-scale in the United States.
- Held an "Anniversary Symposium - "New Innovation" to mark the 50th anniversary of JMAC's foundation.
- Founded Korea JMAC Inc. in Korea, establishing a base for the consulting business.
1993
- Held the 4th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - 3M Corp: Strategies for Future Product Innovation".
- Proposed "Re-engineering" and conducted popularization through publishing, seminars and training in industry.
1994
- Held the 5th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Emerson Electric: Best Cost Producer Strategy and Cost Competitiveness".
- Began ISO 9000 Series consulting business.
- Developed positive information communication activities through holding regular informal meetings with media-related persons from newspapers and magazines.
1995
- Established JMA Consultants America, Inc. in the United States to establish a positive development system for the consulting business in the U.S.
- Held the 6th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Compaq Computer: Rebuilding Business Competitiveness".
1996
- Published "JMAC Management Innovation Techniques '96", a book for JMAC clients introducing JMAC's management administration technology and techniques in an easily understood manner.
- Held the 7th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Cummins Engine: Global Product/Market Strategy.
- Held "Top Management Forum" on a quarterly basis to provide client company top management with a new type of opportunity to conduct interchanges.
- Introduced groupware system with the purpose of improving consultant survey quality and productivity.
1997
- Published "JMAC Management Innovation Techniques '97" as a sequel to "JMAC Management Innovation Techniques '96" published the previous year.
- Held the 8th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Hewlett Packard: Strategies for Creating Business"
- Developed ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) and "knowledge" creation reforms as new themes.
1998
- Published "JMAC Management Innovation Techniques '98" as the third book in the "Management Innovation Techniques Series".
- Held the 9th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Procter & Gamble Company: Strategies for Creating Consumer Value".
- Opened Shanghai Office of the JMA Group in Shanghai, to offer full support for management improvement in Chinese publicly owned corporations.
- Established Cincinnati office as JMAC's second base in the U.S.
- In order to enhance the concentration of the whole JMAC Group, transferred the Head Office to the Shuwa Shiba Koen 3-chome Building, adjacent to the JMA Building.
1999
- Published the JMAC Management Assessment Collection"
- Held the 10th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - United Technologies: Selection and Concentration Strategy of Businesses".
- In a joint project with JMAM, introduced the S-MAX (Service Maximum) program.
- To increase decision-making speed, newly introduced an executive officer (director in charge) system to promote the consulting business and to strengthen competitiveness.
- Established JMAC Scandinavia AB in Sweden as a joint venture between the three companies JMAC, Ohde & Co. AB, and Takizawa Consulting.
- Established JMAC-ADG (JMAC Automotive Distribution Group), a joint venture with the Ford motor company, in the Netherlands.
2000
- Held the 11th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World (New Business Strategies Expanding to the Consumer Market) - Deere & Company: New Start-up Strategy in Entry to the Consumer Market".
- Established JMAC Europe B.V.
2001
- Held the 12th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World: Challenging New Corporate Structures - Ford Company: Challenges in a New Corporate Format".
- In order to transfer JMAC's technical know-how and expertise, and to enhance the consulting business in Thailand, established a joint venture there known as the TMA-JMAC Institute, with the Thailand Management Association
- Jointly published Maynard's Industrial Engineering Handbook 5th Edition (Publisher: McGraw-Hill) with HB Maynard & Company, Inc. of the U.S.
2002
- Held the "Management Innovation Forum for Maximizing MONODZUKURI Value" as a proposal to challenge new MONODZUKURI value innovation.
- Established IBS Division with an aim to create and develop new consulting business.
- Integrated the Library Function and Research Function through IIC, and established the RI Center.
- Made JMA Conseil S.p.A., the joint venture with CONSEIL S.p.A., into a wholly owned subsidiary, and changed the name to JMA Consultants Europe Milano S.p.A.
2003
- Established Metasitory Co. as JMAC's first Japanese subsidiary, to conduct IT System assessment and requirement design consulting.
- Held the 13th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Harley-Davidson : Strategies for Revitalization/Sustained Growth".
- Established Future Management and Innovation Consulting as a joint venture with the German consulting firm IMIG AG to develop a consulting service business focused on "high-tech" and "development".
- Made JMAC-ADG Consultancy B.V. into a wholly owned subsidiary, and changed the company name to JMA Consultants Europe Amsterdam B.V.
- Opened Kansai Office as a regional marketing base for the Kansai area.
- Aiming to realize the JMAC New Vision, transferred the Head Office to the Shiroyama JT Trust Tower.
2004
- Established JMAC Beijing Office as a base for China/Asia business strategies.
- Held the 14th JMAC-21 "Learning from Innovative Enterprises of the World - Walgreen Company Growth Strategy"
- Marking the 20th anniversary of the founding of JMAC International Paris S.A.S., held "20th Anniversary Symposium" in Paris.
- Shanghai China Office, together with JMA, held the "Shanghai Management Interchange Committee" for the top management of Japanese-related businesses.
- Set up the CS Survey Standard Approval System and as a result of raising awareness among many companies, approved OMC Card Co. as the first company out of four companies that had been provisionally approved.

- Moved the Kansai Office, which was established in spring 2003, to a new office in May, in an aim to realize new progress and growth and create a place where customers can gather and talk
